Artist’s statement

My work explores containment, emotional landscapes, and non-linear spaces of time and experience.

I’m interested in emotion as a form of knowledge — in how inner worlds reveal themselves through feeling, and how feeling finds its way into colour and form through my hands. In this way, the work becomes a means of understanding the outer world.

My process is intuitive. I absorb what surrounds me and allow it to move through the work, carrying me forward rather than being directed by me.

Figures appear not as literal bodies, but as states of being. They are inherently feminine; perhaps not in physical identity, but as sensitivity, receptivity, and negotiation — holding within them the full complexity of human experience. Nothing here performs; everything exists to be witnessed.

MATERIALS

Across paint, metal, and found form, the material guides the work as much as I do.

OIL PAINTING

Oil on canvas is my primary medium. Oil allows me to work slowly and bodily. Layering, resistance, and return mirror emotional experience, nothing arrives fully formed. Colour is built, softened, and held back over time. The medium supports non-linear thinking, allowing figures and spaces to form almost naturally over time.

FOUND OBJECTS

I work with found objects for what they already hold. Fragments, everyday forms, and inherited materials carry the presence of their makers, users, and time. Working with them requires restraint, allowing wear, weight, and history to remain visible. I approach these objects with respect for the lives they have already endured, feeling both responsibility and honour in carrying them forward through the work. They align with my interest in devotion and containment. Each piece becomes a collaboration across time rather than an act of authorship alone.

JEWELLERY

Jewellery is where emotion becomes portable. I approach it as an object of intimacy, shaped to sit close to the body and move through daily life. Materials take on talismanic form - carrying memory and personal myth. In all cases, emotion is the starting point.

Across all materials, my practice is guided by intuition and time.

Each material offers a different way of holding feeling, and with it, the gift of patience.
